Type, type, type

If you are also taking the OP class and happen to read this, let me know.

So I won't be able to sign up for video typing until Nov., which means I will be continuing to puzzle out my own type.

I was hanging out with my mom, setting up her new phone, so I asked her a bunch of questions to guess her OP type.  I've always thought we might be fairly close in personality, but different enough to cause conflict.  I typed her as an INFP in the OP system (though I always thought she was an INFJ before).  I could be way wrong, of course.

My main guesses for myself are:  INTJ that acts like an INFJ, ENFP or INFP.

8 Cognitive Functions

Am I like my mother?  If we are both INFP's?
The main difference would be our modalities.
I would be feminine Fi with masculine Te,
to her masculine Fi with feminine Te.

My mother and I have always argued.  I thought I was Fe because she probably has masculine Fi.  But I now think I may have feminine Fi, more easily moved.  When we argue, it's more my masculine Te being mean to her feminine Te.  Mine won't be moved.

OR maybe she is a jumper? still INFP

Fi/Ne Straight INFP

"Dominant Introverted Feeling: (m)

As a dominant function, Fi manifests as a moral compass that points its user toward the direction they ought to explore next, based on how they feel about the information at hand.

The dominant-Fi monologue:“I must decide how I feel and where I stand on these issues before coming to a conclusion about what to do.” NOT MOVABLE

Auxiliary Extroverted Intuition: (m)

Auxiliary Ne manifests as a plethora of possibilities that arise to support or expand upon a thought or decision that the user has come to.

The auxiliary-Ne monologue: “I see a million different ways to look at the concept I’ve been analyzing and I want to consider them all.” NOT MOVABLE

Tertiary Introverted Sensing (f)

As a tertiary function, introverted sensing manifests as a proneness to nostalgia, as well as a method of contrasting the new and exciting with the old and the known.

The tertiary-Si monologue:“I will examine how my new experience or theory sizes up against my past experiences or way of understanding the world.” MOVABLE

Inferior Extroverted Thinking: (f)

As an inferior function, Te originally manifests as the inability to set one’s external desires or plans into motion.

As Te matures, the user finds themselves steadily more able to source the resources they require to make their dreams a reality. They also find themselves developing the ability to express their thoughts to others in a straightforward, logical manner.

The inferior-Te monologue (prior to maturation): “I have many goals I want to accomplish but often have trouble tangibly setting them into motion. I fear being perceived as incompetent by others.” MOVABLE

8 Cognitive Functions

I'm playing with what my guesses look like in terms of the shadow processes, which are the opposites that make up the full 8 functions of a type.

This would inferior Se.  The chaos is my being unable to ever be organized in my environment.  This is an INTJ that feels like an INFJ.  Those are the two types I score myself on the MBTI.
IJs fear chaos, lack of control, unpredictability, unknown

"Dominant Introverted Intuition: (m)

As a dominant function, Ni manifests as a keen perception for the meaningful connections that exist between the thoughts, concepts, events and occurrences in the Ni-user’s environment.

The dominant-Ni monologue:“Everything is interconnected and I must determine the meaning and implication behind those connections.” NOT MOVABLE    true

Auxiliary Introverted Feeling: (f)   JUMPER

As an auxiliary function, Fi manifests as a method of reflecting on and assessing how the user feels about his or her past actions.

The auxiliary-Fi monologue: “I need to isolate myself to process how I feel about the activities I’ve been engaging in lately and decide whether or not to keep doing them.” MOVABLE  true

Tertiary Extroverted Thinking: (m)

As a tertiary function, Te manifests as the ability to source whichever resources are necessary to make the user’s desire a reality.

The tertiary-Te monologue: “I will employ the most straightforward method that exists in order to make my goal, dream or impulse come true.” NOT MOVABLE

Also "In their efforts to be objective they may become overly blunt and tactless. They may also become overly-confident when using objective logic spontaneously only to find that their arguments aren’t as well thought-out as they should be."  https://www.psychologyjunkie.com/2017/11/20/myers-briggs-type-uses-tertiary-function/  true

Inferior Extroverted Sensing: (f)

As an inferior function, Se originally manifests as a distrust of the physical world that surrounds its user, or the pervasive belief that one’s intellect can and must be trusted above the sensory information that is available.

As Se matures, the user may find themselves feeling steadily more in tune with the sensory world that surrounds them, and more able to trust it as a pervasive force.

The inferior-Se monologue (prior to maturation): “I must analyze all possible outcomes of a sensory experience, as the physical world is subject to change unexpectedly, at any time.” MOVABLE

INJs:  “Perfecting the world or acquiring wealth (Se) will bring me wholeness.”
"Some INTJs and INFJs employ their inferior function, Extraverted Sensing (Se), by way of physical activity. They often exert themselves without regard to injury or pain. One teen INTJ loves to run when stressed, and because there is so much on her mind, she won’t feel any physical pain, even when running six miles. An INFJ acquaintance spoke of running countless miles per week. I once remarked that she must love running to which she replied, “Actually, I hate it.” INJs may also employ their Se in activities like gourmet cooking, baking, photography, drawing, or learning a musical instrument. I have watched them take turns among all these, often exhausting themselves with the detail required to excel."
Se-inferior Types
• Obsessive focus on external data
• Overindulgence in sensual pleasure
• Adversarial attitude toward the outer world
MESSY

An INFJ said she “becomes suspicious. Usually I'm tolerant, curious, and compassionate, so 'out of character' for me means I'm unaccepting and frustrated with the world.”  true

This would be inferior Si.  It's about my being an absent minded professor type, esp. losing things.  This is the type I was given by Pod'Lair.  EPs fear government, any control by stupidity
"Dominant Extroverted Intuition: (m)

As a dominant function, Ne manifests as a seemingly never-ending plethora of theories, possibilities and inventive ideas that the user is constantly picking up on.

The dominant-Ne monologue: “I am swimming in an endless sea of possibilities about what to do/experience/think about next and I want to try them all.” NOT MOVABLE

Auxiliary Introverted Feeling: (f)

As an auxiliary function, Fi manifests as a method of reflecting on and assessing how the user feels about his or her past actions.

The auxiliary-Fi monologue: “I need to isolate myself to process how I feel about the activities I’ve been engaging in lately and decide whether or not to keep doing them.” MOVABLE  true

Inferior Introverted Sensing: (f)

As an inferior function, introverted sensing originally manifests as a resistance to tradition or conformity of any sort.

As Si matures, the user will find themselves steadily more able to determine when traditional methods are useful in accomplishing their goals and when they are not, and will begin to feel comfortable integrating tried-and-true methods into their experiences as they see fit.

The inferior-Si monologue (prior to maturation): “Out with the old, in with the new! F*ck the system! The man can’t keep me down!” MOVABLE

"Losing things, overly touchy/ breaky with objects, fucking up the order of something (blowing your nose, wiping sweat off your forehead with same tissue), forgeting really important things like bank pins/ recovery passwords you just set 10 minutes earlier and weren't taking seriously enough, a sort of constant desire to feel comfortable/ have someone else sort shit out for you."

ENPs:  “Honoring the past & its traditions (Si) will bring me wholeness.”

"These mostly forward-looking (Ne) types can travel through life darting glances in the rearview mirror (Si)—sometimes nostalgic, sometimes regretful. When NPs look back, they often do so with a tinge of sorrow, not with the untempered joy that ISJs experience from old memories. Si also contributes to an inner bodily awareness. And being relatively unconscious in ENPs, they may be relatively oblivious to their own health or bodily needs."

Si-inferior Types
• Withdrawal and depression
• Obsessiveness
• Focus on the body

LOSING THINGS true

This is my only guess that is a decider. But I think I'm actually very undermined by insecurity.  This would have inferior masculine Te.  It's about erupting at people also.  This is the type I come to with the OP system.  IPs fear group think, and democracy, tribe rejection, being judged, people

"As Si develops and matures, INXPs enjoy using it to a great degree. They may find joy in revisiting favorite places, watching favorite old movies, and re-listening to their favorite songs over and over. They may grow interested in their family history, their cultural history, and researching the past. They may collect memorabilia and find comfort in familiarity and routine. IFPs: “Organizing my life or advancing my career (Te) will bring me wholeness.”
"IFPs employ Extraverted Thinking (Te) when they look to calendars, to-do lists, and time management methods to shoehorn some structure into their lives. IFPs are happiest not having to tell others what to do, but sometimes life demands it (e.g., parenting). Feeling embarrassed in drill sergeant mode, IFPs may make use of charts and lists to communicate responsibilities to others. IFPs may also get hot with anger toward bullying behavior and be driven to confront the offender (Te), only to struggle with guilt afterward for what they consider an immature outburst. To an IFP, Extraverted Thinking (Te) feels a lot like becoming the Incredible Hulk, only to find afterward that no one noticed."

Te-inferior Types
• Judgments of incompetence
• Aggressive criticism
• Precipitous action

"An INFP becomes “more intense. I tend to lash out at people with great anger. I am blaming and accusatory. I get vicious 'Ben Hur'–type images with a lot of violent action. I feel cold, intolerant, uncaring, rigid, straitjacketed, focused, and terrier-like.” “I snap at people and I don't care about their reactions to this. I criticize people, especially for their incompetence. I generalize this to thinking that the whole world is incompetent and has screwed up values, and I stop caring about my own values,” explained another INFP. “I become self-critical, doubting, irritable, inflexible, and more picky. I focus on details. Usually, I am flexible and quiet and like new challenges, new ideas, and working with people.”    true

The grip of the inferior

Naomi Quenk's book "Was that really me?" has long been a favorite of mine.

All of my guesses for my MBTI type involve inferior extroverted Thinking (or demon).

Excerpt about inferior extroverted Thinking in the INFP.
https://www.personalitycafe.com/infp-articles/76770-recognizing-inferior-function-ifps.html

This describes me so well.  I wish it didn't.  I lash out at others for being rude.  And I'm rude when I do it.  Ironic and wrong.

Deciders = Pain, Observers = Fear

All the types I've considered have been observers, and I still might be one, but this video makes me wonder if I'm a decider (IxxP).  I'm going to request the OP service in October.  But for now, I'm just trying to feel out the possibilities.  So this video made me consider my worst character traits, my shadow.  I have deep pain about both parents essentially not wanting me.  Most of the time I'm ok now, but if that nerve gets touched, I do admit to lashing out.  So... no spiders in my childhood room.

I made these little clips a little while ago.  I thought I was Fe.  And I've been told I'm Se.

Fi and Fe
My original type I thought I was was INTJ, then INFJ, then said probably not.
I thought I was Fe because my mother was Fi, and we both have poor social skills / manners.
I was judging her about being rude in public, so I get judging and controlling about being appropriate in public.  I think I'm over compensating.  I think politeness is a value.  I am aware of whether others are happy, but I'm not really naturally polite.  I force myself to learn how to fake being nice. I'm capable of being mean I overcontrol it, by the value of "don't be mean."  I'm wondering if I'm Fi, with Te (lower on the stack) and then Se and Ni.  But I always thought I was an inferior Se.  I was typed by INTJ/INFP Coffee as dominant Se.

I have been typed as dominant Se.
Where is Se in my stack?  I had an analysis where they said I was ENFP with Se dominant and it just doesn't feel possible.  But the reason is, since for a long time I thought I was INTJ and then INFJ, both have inferior Se, and I had a pretty good story in my head about that not being true for me (having Se dominant).  I am not athletic, I walk into tables all the time and get bruises on a regular basis, I also lose things all the time (don't know if that has to do with it or not).  The biggest thing is I'm not comfortable, I'm never never comfortable.  So the biggest thing is I'm a highly sensitive person, I like that category.  Does that mean inferior Se? or could someone with dominant Se have like so much awareness of their senses, and taking in too much other of their surroundings, of stimuli, that thy were uncomfortable all the time from that.

I might also have Te Demon.

A year has passed...

Hello!  It's been awhile.  Life happens.  My husband, Greg, who just happens to be in the collage above, got rather ill and lost his job.  He's better now.  But we had to move so I could get a job with benefits.  It's been quite stressful!!  I've been working 60+ hours a week and just trying to survive.  Well my husband finally got on disability (yay!) so I can cut back to a more normal work week.  This has opened up a little room for me to find something to explore again.  So I found a class on Meyers-Briggs type personality typing.  I've obsessed about that here before (as you may recall).  Anyway, the class is called OBJECTIVE PERSONALITY https://www.objectivepersonality.com/

So why is Isabella Rosellini in the collage above?  Well, there are a few types that I think I may be. And I might be the same type as her.  And I think we look alike. Of course I have to try to figure it out myself.  But you have to be in the class 60 days before you can be typed by their service.  I fully accept I may not know my own type.  In fact, the subjective measure of the MBTI is pretty ridiculous.  The problem is that it is subjective.  Jung contended that we don't see our own shadows.  Dave and Shan of Objective Personality say that we probably don't see our first or fourth cognitive functions. But we do see our 2nd and 3rd functions.  Thus we think we are defined by those functions.  We end up typing ourselves backwards.

So Isabella Roselini has been typed FF-Fi/Ne-CP/S(B).  Um what?  Let me break that down.  FF means he is double feminine, which is about how she speaks to others and her dominant sense being visual.  Her dominant function is Fi or introverted Feeling.  Her secondary function is Ne or extroverted iNtuition.  She also has Si and Te.  C means Consume (or gather info.), P means Play (or interact with others), S means Sleep (or introspection) and B means Blast (or teach).

Check out Objective Personality!
"We are a self-funded, full-time research team based in Portland, Oregon.  We use the scientific method to define and track personality on a spectrum of 512 types.  We have objectively typed over 2500 people since 2014. You can read about our methods and discoveries on this page:  Objective Personality System."

Another round of "what am I?"

While I wait until I can be typed in the Objective Personality system, I am playing around with what my guesses are about my MBTI type.  One concept in this system is that there are OBSERVERS (IxxJ and ExxP) and DECIDERS (IxxP, ExxJ).  Most of my guesses have actually been in the observer category, but more recently I realized some reasons I might be a decider.  For one thing, there is a theory that people do not see their top or lower function, but do see their middle functions.

Guess #1: I've always thought I was an INTJ and more recently an INFJ.  So going through the process of elimination taught in the class, one possibility is FM-Ni/Fi-SC/B(P), which is called a "jumper."
INFJ and socionics faces

INTJ jumper (like INFJ)

Guess #2: ENFP because I was visually typed as this type by Pod'lair.

Guess #3: INFP like Isabella Roselini.

INFP
