Each sign has an element, modality and ruler of the rising planet, to be explained further below.
There are 12 signs and each one has an element (air, water, fire or water), and a modality (cardinal, fixed or mutable), so that each sign is a different combination of the two.

For example, here are Libra and Taurus, in the position of Rising Sign and Sun Sign.
